Introduction
Ever noticed how some perfume oils linger beautifully for hours, while others fade quickly? That’s all about fixation, the art and science of helping fragrance molecules stay on your skin longer.
At Perfume Oils , our pure A-Grade, French imported oils are already concentrated for maximum hold, but understanding fixation helps you make the most of each drop.

What Is Fixation?
Fixation is the ability of a perfume to resist evaporation and cling to the skin. In oil-based perfumes, the carrier oil itself like our fragrance base, acts as a natural fixative it slows the evaporation of the fragrance, giving you long, graceful wear.
Factors That Affect Longevity
1) Oil Concentration
There is a common misconception that the more oil you add, the longer it lasts. This is not 100 percent true. Our A-Grade perfume Oils are specifically designed and formulated to create the strongest form of scent, which is Parfum. This requires a specific mixing range of 20–30% fragrance oil to 70–80% fragrance base (lasts 6 -12 hrs or more). Adding more oils than necessary can in fact have a negative effect on the formulation of the oils and decrease longevity. You will also unnecessarily be using more product, which then takes away from your potential profit margins.
2) Skin Type
Oily or well-moisturised skin holds scent longer. Dry skin absorbs oils too quickly, reducing projection. Always apply after moisturising.
3) Fragrance Family
-
Woody, amber, and musk oils last longest.
-
Citrus or light floral oils fade faster but smell fresh.
4) Temperature & Environment
Heat amplifies scent projection, while cooler climates can make it subtler.
5) Application Technique
Apply on pulse points like the wrists, neck, behind ears. Avoid rubbing; let it absorb naturally.
How to Boost Fixation Naturally
-
Layer your perfume oil with a matching unscented body lotion.
-
Reapply lightly mid-day, a small dab revives the scent.
-
Store bottles away from sunlight and temperature fluctuations.
With our Grade A perfume oils, you can expect 6–12 hours of scent longevity depending on skin chemistry and environment.
Final Thought
Oil-based perfumes aren’t about loud projection, they’re about intimacy, luxury, and personal connection. Once you understand fixation, you’ll realise why perfume oils are treasured for their staying power and elegance.
